Community Capacity Building Officer

Wanslea is proud to be partnering with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) since 2019, having established offices in Perth and across a number of regional areas, in a first for WA.

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has become available for a Community Capacity Building (CCB) Officer to join the CCB team, based out of our Wanneroo office. This vital position is responsible for the development and implementation of a Community Capacity Building Plan incorporating community education, partnerships and community building strategies in line with the NDIA’s program requirements.

About you

We are seeking a professional and passionate individual with a demonstrated understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and a sound understanding of community engagement frameworks for health, education or community organisations. Your ability to work collaboratively and supportively in a team environment whilst building strong community networks and resources will ensure you have the foundation skills to be a success in this role.

The Role

As a Community Capacity Building Officer you will:

  •  Liaise with internal and external services to maintain relevant links and networks

  • Work with stakeholders to strengthen services for children with developmental delay or disability and their families to ensure effective referral pathways

  • Develop and implement a Community Capacity Building Plan incorporating community engagement, partnerships and community building strategies

  • Coordinate and participate in service promotion, training and professional development activities 

Successful candidates will have:

  • Degree qualification in health promotion, community development or related discipline

  • Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS and the needs of children and families with a disability

  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders

  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating consumer and community engagement events and activities within an allocated budget

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate community awareness programs

  • Proven organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet agreed deadlines

  • Demonstrated understanding of ‘child safe’ environment

  • Satisfactory current National Police Clearance

  • Current Working With Children Card

  • Current WA ‘C’ Class driver’s licence and access to a roadworthy motor vehicle suitable for work purposes that is licensed at the Standard Rate
