Early Childhood Practitioner - South West

Wanslea has been selected as a Partner in the Community to deliver Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) services as part of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Wanslea is a seeking skilled, experienced and qualified Early Childhood Practitioner to join our team in Bunbury.

This position is responsible for the provision of best-practice early childhood assessment, planning and early intervention for children with developmental delays and/or disabilities and their families and the development and implementation of a Community Capacity Building Plan incorporating community education, partnerships and community building strategies in line with the NDIA’s program requirements.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Allied Health (Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or Physiotherapy) or other relevant professional field
  • Extensive knowledge of early childhood development, developmental delay and disability, and the early intervention service sector
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating consumer and community engagement events and activities within allocated the budget
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate community awareness programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS, the ECEI approach and early childhood intervention best practice principles
  • Proven ability to complete child development assessments and prepare reports
  • Proven ability to work with children with developmental delay or disability and their families
  • Demonstrated knowledge of family centred practice and commitment to the provision of services that reflect evidence-based best practice
  • Proven organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet agreed deadlines
  • Awareness and understanding of the functional and social impact of disability and the importance of social inclusion
  • High level verbal and written communication including the ability to engage and communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds , tailoring communication to suit specific target groups
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to respond effectively to initial high volumes of work
  • Ability to identify key stakeholders and build strong effective relationships and partnerships internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to maintain an ethical, inclusive and non-judgemental approach to service delivery
  • High level information management competency including the ability to use technology to record, retrieve and report information
  • Demonstrated understanding of “child safe” environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills and the ability to make timely and thought-out decisions
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities with minimal supervision required
  • Capacity to work creatively and independently, demonstrate initiative and actively develop a supportive team environment
