From 1 July our Early Childhood Approach can support children up to age nine

Wanslea has recently signed a new contract with the NDIS to continue delivering the Early Childhood Approach across Perth Metro, Inner Wheatbelt, Peel, South West and the Great Southern. The new contract means that Wanslea can now support children up to the age of nine.

From 1 July 2023, the NDIS Early Childhood Approach delivered by Wanslea will change to support children up to the age of nine.

The Early Childhood Approach can help families with children younger than six with developmental delay or children younger than nine with disability to access the right support when they need it.

Children younger than six will continue to be supported by Wanslea if they have:

  • a permanent disability
  • a developmental delay, or
  • developmental concerns.

There is no change to the NDIS eligibility requirements or the definition of developmental delay under the early intervention requirements (s25 of the NDIS Act).

Children younger than six do not need a diagnosis to get support from the Early Childhood Approach, where there are concerns about theirdevelopment.

Children younger than nine with a permanent disability that are new to the scheme, can be supported by the Early Childhood Approach from 1 July 2023.

After 1 July 2023, children turning seven

Children that turn seven before 1 July 2023 will transition to be supported by a local area coordinator, as is the current process.
